Going into this game everyone was talking about Georgia’s big bats but it was Florida who came to pound the ball. Head coach Tim Walton decided to go with Aleshia Ocasio for the start istead of Kelly Barnhill and that moved prove the right one. Even though things got off to a rocky start with Ocasio giving up a 2-run home run to Justice Milz things calmed down and Florida’s bats got to work including a 3-run home run by Ocasio. In a run-rule shortened game Florida got the win 11-3. UCLA vs. Florida State
Things were looking good for Florida State with Meghan King holding the Bruins scoreless talking a 4-0 lead into the 5th inning when KIng got into a little trouble and a pitching change was made bringing Kylee Hanson to the mound. You could tell Hanson was very nervous. She started out good but things changed fast with the Bruins putting hits all over the field and over the fences. Quickly what seemed like a easy victory for Florida State turned into a 7-4 lose. UCLA advances to the winner’s bracket and will face off against Florida on Friday June 1 at 8:30 p.m. While Florida State drops down into the loser bracket and will have to play Georgia on Saturday June 2 at 1:30 p.m.
