If you’re an athlete any time you compete you want to win but Fall ball is also a time to get a good look at your athletes in game type situations. It’s especially important for teams like Texas and new head coach Mike White who has to learn about the entire team not just several new players.
On Saturday he got a good chance as Texas took on SEC powerhouse LSU at Scrap Yard Sports Facility in a nine innings game.
After LSU had built up a 6-0 lead Texas made a big comeback to win the game 8-6. Texas put 6 runs on the board in their portion of the 8th inning then got the win when Texas junior catcher Taylor Ellsworth got a two-out double that brought home two runs securing the win.

Junior catcher Taylor Ellsworth went 2-for-4 including a game winning double. Junior right fielder Tuesday DerMargosian also went 2-for-4 with a RBI, redshirt junior center fielder Reagan Hathaway went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Texas freshman pitcher Shea O’Leary got the game start. Things didn’t go well for her though with LSU holding a 2-0 lead by the time the 1st inning was done. Sophomore pitchers Ariana Adams and Chloe Romero both looked good holding LSU scoreless in their innings of pitching. Senior pitcher Brooke Bolinger picked up the win in relief. Bolinger ended her pitching effort with four strikeouts and allowed just one hit in her two innings of work.
