The last few years have been interesting for Missouri softball with the firing of fiery head coach E and several star players leaving the team. Last year interim head coach Gina Fogue managed to take the team to a 30-29 record and 6-17 in the tough SEC. This year Larissa Anderson has been tagged as the head coach to lead the team forward.
Even with the above mentioned program turmoil Missouri has still managed to make the NCAA Tournament every year since 2007.
Senior Madi Norman will be tasked with carrying the main load once again when it comes to pitching. She went 9-8 last season with a 3.63 ERA. Joining her on the staff is, Nalani Scates, Baleigh Koester, Kendal Judge and Eli Daniel.
Missouri likes to drive in lots of runs with their power game. This year they’ll have to do it without some big bats from last years team including, Amanda Sanchez (12 HR, 37 RBI) and Rylee Pierce (8 HR, 23 RBI). They still do have power hitters like, Cayla Kessinger 10 HR, 20 RBI) and Kolby Romaine (6 HR, 25 RBI) on the team to help supply those runs.
If the Tigers can find a good second pitcher to take some of the load off of Norman with their strong bats they should be able to get their fair share of wins this season and keep their making the playoffs streak alive for another year.
